Legion synopsis/narrative introduction

Tactics, Strategy & Warfare:

The Golden Jaguars have been noted in preferring to approach warfare in a more patient manner than other headstrong Legions. Gathering intelligence and knowing enemy dispositions before its forces are committed has seen the Golden Jaguars Legion’s numbers steadily rise as well as a higher number of veterans in their formations.

They are brutal close combat fighters and rely on light armored assaults and ambush tactics to get their enemy exactly where they want them. The Legion has a considerable amount of Assault Marines, more than most Legions in the Adeptus Astartes. The Golden Jaguars have been observed ambushing unsuspecting enemies from the the famed Rhino and Razorback Transports as well as the Thunderhawk Gunship.

Legion Strength:

The Golden Jaguars don't possess a large surplus of Legionnaires like the Warriors of the Ist Legion. They are dedicated Scout/Assault Troops. The Legion totals out at roughly 161,000 Space Marines; of that number 11,000 are dedicated Aerial Assault Troopers. The Airborne Strength of the Legion has been estimated at a combined 2000 Thunderhawk Gunships and Storm Birds that are dedicated for the use of dropping Assault Troops as well as Light Armor upon the battlefield. Jagus prefers to engage the enemy with the combined might of his Assault Legionnaires and Light Armor. He is an expert at rapid, mechanized assaults, though the Primarch understands and utilizes all Legion elements at his disposal. He relishes the firepower of his heavy armored elements within his Legion. When he fights enemies less conventional to his tactics, he wedges them between his Heavy Armor and Tactical Clans as well as his Assault Clans to bring the battles to an end.

Unification:

In 798.M30, the Emperor set out to utilize the brutal way of warfare of the Siege-Breaking Xth Legion so that the resources still contested in Central, Southern and West Afrik could be utilized for his forces. The Xth set out from Ethia (Ethiopia) first trudging across to the West to obtain the vast metal resources that would be critical to the success of taking the continent. The siege-breaking skills of the Xth saw them shine in the dense jungles of Central Afrik, racking a heavy toll on the Shashuan Tribes that fought viciously to protect their jungle fortresses. It was during the battle of Ghaandish Flats that the enemy Commander saw his entire force of 20,000 routed from its fortress and subsequently slaughtered at the hands of the Xth. The Legionnaires continued their relentless march across Afrik. This savage conduct did not stop, nor did the Emperor cull the warriors of this Legion for the Emperor needed warriors to fight the ugliest battles in order to accomplish his goals. During these times, the Legion suffered from a genetic affliction that would cause the Legionnaires of the Xth to devolve into a state of psychosis and become uncontrollably aggressive and savage. Some say the Emperor was well aware of what the Xth suffered from, mainly because he never said anything of it and may have purposefully made the Legion as such. But no one ever questioned the wisdom of the Emperor. The Xth Legion made short work in Southern Afrik, easily annihilating the Desert Peoples that came to meet the Xth in combat. With the vast stores of Uranium seized by the Xth, the Emperor took the Legion with him as a brutal fighting force that would quell populations into compliance just by reputation alone.

Great Crusade:

The Xth Legion were effective and brutal Siege Specialist during the Galactic Conquest. Early in the fight for the galaxy, 802.M30 the Legion was involved in more action than most Legions at the time. Setting out from Segmentum Solar and pushing East with the Emperor in the Northern and Eastern Expansion. Their notorious agression and savage demeanor saw that no enemy could withstand the utter brutality the Legion would bear down upon their enemies. Unlike more traditional Siege Specialists in the Astartes at the time, the Xth would bombard a world from orbit, destroying any and everything that stood in the way of their objectives. When the firing stopped, the Xth made drop-pod assaults on their objectives and slaughtered anyone left living. This was mainly due to the ideology of Lord Commander Cassius "Hell-Hand" Scaros who believed that anyone or anything that defied his will and ultimately the Emperors will, deserved annihilation. World after world was utterly destroyed at the hands of Scaros and the Xth Legion. The Emperor turned a blind eye to the Xth, never censoring or bringing the Legion to heel for their disregard for the preservation of worlds or entire populations. The Legions honors were long, but they were shrouded in darkness. The Xth would become know as the Soul Breakers, for they broke the very soul of populations and the worlds they came across. The only thing the Legion left in their wake was pure and unflinching destruction.

Reunion of the Xth and Jagus:

After the Legion was reunited with their Primarch, there were sweeping changes throughout the Legion, starting with the collective ideology of the Legion. No more would they kill their enemies from afar. The Legion adopted the Way of the Jaguar from the Primarch, a savage, quick and brutal approach to warfare. Not only did the Legion change its way of war but it’s time spent when not at war. Jagus brought his lavish Kuangazan Culture to his Legion; Art, Aristocracy, Music, History and Philosophy. The most sweeping change for the Legion was their pursuit of nobility as warriors with Jagus as the epitome of that ideology. He wanted to be rid of the dark history of the Legion prior to his coming. Not everyone in the Legion agreed with what their gene-sire did with the Legion, Lord Commander Scaros was one of those officers. The changes brought to the Legion would sew the seeds of hatred in some of the Terran-born Officers and Legionnaires. But ultimately, Jagus brought nobility and purpose beyond that of war to his sons and deemed that they conduct themselves as more than tools. With his sons renewed in spirit and purpose, he set out across the stars to retake what was rightfully mankind's. He renamed his Legion the Golden Jaguars, donning his sons in the Golden Armor and the snarling Jaguar from his homeworld.

Xth Legion Campaigns/Battles

-Exemplary-
The Campaign of Nightmares: 813.M30- During their tenure with Amarthanar and the Paladins, Jagus and the Golden Jaguars were tasked with exploring the dreaded Halo Stars in the Segmentum Obscurus. The combined might of the VIIIth and the Xth saw the eradication of numerous xenos forms beyond description. One such xenos race were the Y'lla, a mechinoid ghoulish race of xenos that plagued its home system by enslaving other races for use in powering their biological siege engines. When the warriors of the VIIIth and Xth met these foul xenos on the planet of Krykna, they were met with the stuff from nightmares. Gigantic siege engines literally made out of metal and humanoid forms sought to destroy the invaders of their realm. The intention of the Y'lla was to draw their empire into the known galaxy and take anyone who stood in their way. The Y'lla only survived from their pillaging of the minds and material of other races. It was the same case for even the Legionnaires of the Adeptus Astartes. Where overwhelming numbers of the xenos that equated to infantry, broke the lines of the Astartes, they purged the minds of the wounded and took their material and turned it on the very Astartes they were fighting. The campaign was ended after Amarthanar and Jagus agreed the Y'lla could be purged from orbit. It made little sense for the Primarchs of their respective Legions to lose man and material to the xenos. The combined Legions reined fire from the void and purged the xenos from existence.

Campaign of the Burning Void: 816.M30-  In the Western part of the Segmentum Pacificus, the 1st Assault Brotherhood discovered a void based human civilization that would see the Golden Jaguars see the Legion take heavy losses since their start in the Galactic Conquest. As Jagus and the bulk of the Legion covered the central and southern sections of the sector, the roughly 40,000 Legionnaires of the 1st Assault Brotherhood and elements of the 369 Expeditionary Fleet found themselves at the mercy of a human civilization known as the Zagan They bitterly refused the offer to join the Imperial fold and fired upon the Xth without warning. Masters in the art of void warfare, they dashed the golden ships of the Astartes fleet with their superior speed and coordination. The Zagan possessed superior warp-jump technology that allowed them to jump, on-top, below, and behind formations of the Golden Jaguars with pinpoint precision. Torpedo Assaults from the 1st Brotherhood were blown from the void as they attempted to destroy the Zagan ships. The gleaming forms of Golden Jaguar Legionnaires littered the space of the battle. It was too late for the 1st Brotherhood as they attempted to hold on for the reinforcement of their Primarch and the rest of the Legion. 40,000 Legionnaires its ships and material were destroyed at the hands of the Zagan. It was only through the wrath of the rest of the Legion and the destruction of the Zagans asteroid fortresses within the void, that the enemy were defeated once and for all.

Assault of Voln: 834.M30- The Orks of the “Jagged-Toof” Empire; controlled nearly twenty planets within their Empire, in the heart of the Segmentum Tempestus. The Xth Legion alongside the 369th Expeditionary Fleet and the Legio Tarinus of Mars set out to quell the systems of the xenos taint and free the enslaved humans of these blighted worlds. Having considerable campaigns and experience under his belt the Primarch of the Xth set out in full Legion strength against the million strong Ork empire. Splitting his force into seperate battle groups, the Primarch sent the Ethia Imperial Army and the entirety of Legio Tarinus down to the surface of the planets. The Primarchs plan consisted of engaging the Orks with the battle-hardened Ethia Troops and the engines of Tarinus into isolated groups. When the enemy was in place, the Legion enacted drop pod assaults upon the unsuspecting Orks. The endless sea of greenskins and war idols stood no chance against the Ethia and the combined might of Legio Tarinus. Elements of each tasks force supported one another upon the battlefield and drowned the world in blood. The Xth and the 369th continued this battle plan across the Ork Empire. Of the entire task force, losses were minimal for Imperial Forces, only losing a fifth of the total strength between all forces combined.

-Notable-
The Battle of Suffering: 813.M30- It was during the Battle of Suffering that the secrets of the Paladins and the Jaguars would be revealed. For months the combined Legions had run a campaign of attrition against the xenos of the Halo Stars. It would be on dust choked plains of Aukax that the Astartes of these Legions truly suffered. Embattled against an insectoid race of xenos that utilized echolocation to find their foes, the two Legions found themselves fighting a losing battle against the insectoids, brought to the very limits of their endurance and strength, the Legionnaires of the 71st "Meshindi" Assault Clan reported that some of their brother Legionnaires of the 21st Order, Brotherhood of the Burning Sky were taking on a faint glow. It was at the height of the battle they would literally burn themselves out. Streaking flames across their armored bodies, they slew the xenos before they themselves fell. It seemed it was only the newest of the Legion that succumbed to the affliction known as the Soul Blaze. The VIIIth Legion would go to great lengths to hide this from outsiders. But that was far from the end of it for these warriors. Paladins from the 44th Order, Brotherhood of the Golden Skulls reported their cousins from the 31st Assault Clan had belayed all order and charged the enemy headlong. They described them as "Beasts of Old Earth", the Legionnaires slavered at the mouth, eyes dilated and ripped the throats out of their enemies with their fanged maws. This didn't sate the beast that had risen from the noble sons of Jagus. Those that had become lost to the beast had to be put down by their Pride brothers. The affliction of the Jaguars would become known as the Egestas a Bestia or the "Curse of the Beast"

In total, 57 warriors from the Xth and 23 warriors from the VIIIth became victim to their genetic afflictions. Despite these events, the Imperials were victorious. These were secrets that the Jaguar and the Sage would keep to themselves. After the battle, Jagus and Amarthanar would swear an oath to one another to never speak of the events. For if word got out of their genetic deficiency, it could spell ill for the Primarchs and their Legions.

Compliance of Differences: 814.M30- Eventually being dubbed Task Force Wrath of Light the Jaguars and Paladins participated in the compliance of 02-369, where half of the human population on the hive world of Qlaed wished to joint he Imperium and the other half sought to repel the traitors and invaders from their world. The Legions would go in full force, the Jaguars storming the enemy hives from above through aerial assault, while the Paladins crushed those from the underhive with their relentless wrath and unique gift to seek those that sought to hide. After a terran week, the world was rendered compliant. The planet was left in relative shape after the Legions continued their trek across the sector.

Siege of Red Mountain: 814.M30- The task force moved west along the Halo Stars, again finding another lost civilization of mankind on the rocky world of Craight. But the Imperials were immediately met with hostility. Emissaries sent to the planet to negotiate their inclusion into the Imperium were showed being skinned alive on the bridges of the Primarchs flagships. Jagus ordered an immediate assault of the planet, bringing the brunt of two Assault Brotherhoods (20,000 Legionnaires), and a Heavy Armored Brotherhood on the heads of the enemy stronghold, a place they called Red Mountain. The Golden Jaguars made headway against the entrenched enemy until they made it mid way up the mountain pass where the enemy laid in wait. Numerous artillery batteries and squadrons of tanks had arrayed themselves against the wrath of the Jaguars. But it would not be enough for the warriors of Red Mountain. For the blood of the Jaguars was up. The Jaguars broke the main force against their golden armored tanks and infantry while scouts of the Xth slipped into the stronghold of Red Mountain. It was then Amarthanar and his sons teleported in, and slaughtered the enemy from within. The dark confines of the mountain stronghold did little to save from the encroaching of the white armored warriors. They would be nicknamed the Phantoms of the Dark by the populous.

The Spearhead of Light: 816.M30- After the Primarchs and Legionnaires of the VIIIth and Xth forged their bonds of brotherhood, they bid their farewells to one another as the Xth made their way to the Segmentum Pacificus on a bid to free the Galactic West of xenos and bring the forgotten civilizations back to the light of mankind. This movement of the Xth would become known as the Spearhead of Light for all over the Galactic Sector, golden ships in the livery of the Jaguars spread their destruction as well as their enlightenment to the lost peoples of Terra.

Cleansing of Alatheia: 817.M30- Located on the eastern fringe of Segmentum Pacificus, the Golden Jaguars would see to their first campaign with their newly appointed Primarch. The Xth Legion was sent to the system of Alatheia to quell the encroachment of the Aeldari Craftworld Calesi. The vial xenos set to gain a foot hold on the planets surrounding Theta-ZH1, the habitable systems star. The Primarch personally lead the assault of Iania with 10 Assault Clans and a 1000 man Chapter of the IIIrd Legion. An additional 23 Brotherhoods were set out across the system to deal with splinter elements of the Aeldari. Before the Primarch committed his force he utilized not only his own 73rd Reconnaissance Clan, but the warriors of the IIIrd Legion. They were instrumental in reporting the movement and capabilities of the enemy. Satisfied, Jagus lead 10,000 of his warriors to crush the Aeldari on the planet. The brutal drop pod assault from the assault saw the xenos on planet with no where to run. The warriors of the IIIrd waged war similarly to the Xth where they used lightning assault tactics to break the lines of the Aeldari. It was in the dense southern forests of Iania that the Legionnaires of the IIIrd shined. Only armed with bolter and blade, the warriors of the IIIrd utilized their peculiar gift, to spit venom in the faces of the Striking Scorpions and Aeldari Rangers in their midst. Dazed and casualties mounting high, the Aeldari flanking maneuver was halted thanks to the IIIrd Legion warriors. After the battle, Jagus Kumkani personally praised the IIIrd Legion Warriors alongside his assembled sons.

**Of note, elements from the 2nd Assault Clan and the 34th Light Armored Clan gained notoriety among their Primarch and the Legion as a whole when they stood against he assembled might of 3000 Aeldari Warriors and supporting Armored elements. The 34th were instrumental in the destruction of the advancing xenos tanks. With the Aeldari within their cordon, the 34th dismounted their Predator Tanks and took chainswords in hand; and stood with their brothers in holding the strategic spaceport if Iania. Holding the enemy in place until the Primarch arrived with reinforcements, the 2nd Assault Brotherhood had lost a nearly a quarter of their number. Within 6 standard months, the Xth would completely pacify the system of Alatheia and free it of xenos taint.

Compliance of 14-369: 825.M30- The Xth Legion discovered the planet of Aglone, a human-xenos population that unwittingly coexisted on the realm of the Emperor. The humans and xenos of this world sought to reason with the Imperials, saying their way was achievable through understand from both parties. The Primarch of the Xth, disgusted by this had the entire population slaughtered with blade and bolter. Later to be recolonized by loyal Imperial citizens to be turned into an Agri-World for the ever expanding Imperium.

Death of the Ramu: 831.M30- The Ramu were a small human civilization on the outskirts of the Northern Segmentum Tempestus that possessed arcane techno-sorcery to control and develop the "ungifted" men and women of their world. An entire Ethian Regiment from the 369th had gone dark after setting foot on the planet. As Jagus and his Legion discovered, the Ramu sought to turn those unlike them into war-psykers. Jagus feared if he sent any one else down to the planet it would result in more of the same. He authorized the use of the Abomnyama the "Black Ones", lost to the curse of their flesh. The 13th Reconnaissance Brotherhood along with the 3rd Assault Brotherhood, and elements from the 9th Tactical Brotherhood took to the streets of the Ramu planet. The 13th, attaining enemy disposition and points of weakness within the realm eliminated high value targets and personnel. As a screen, the 9th Tactical hit strategic installations to bring the Pyskers to battle, only for the Abomnyama to break their lines and the 3rd Assault Brotherhood jumping in their mist from precision coordinated drops from Stormbird Gunships. The planet was rid of the heretical psykers and the planet brought into the Imperial fold.

Legion Culture/Temperament:

Jagus did much to establish a purposeful and regarded culture and belief system in the Xth Legion. This ideology of honor, nobility, and purpose has bred excellent warriors from the Legion. Almost zealous in their role as warriors and scholars, they are heavily involved in the Arts, History, Science and Military Doctrine. They strive for excellence on and off the battlefield. The Legionnaires of the Xth Legion are described as a calm and reserved bunch of warriors, though they exude a sense of tension about them; ready for anything at any moment. This is due to the ideology of their Primarch Jagus. The warriors of this Legion are naturally aggressive due to the gene-seed from their Progenitor, but twined with the doctrines set by their Primarch, they have suppressed their wild abandoned and turned their savage wrath into a focused point in their application of war. They pride themselves on their will of purpose and sense of brotherhood with each other and cousin legions of the IIIrd, VIIIth, XIth and XXth. They are cautious when beginning a battle, for they prefer to know all they can about their enemy; strengths and weaknesses, etc. But once the Legion commits to war, they are a savage and brutal force that cannot be stopped. They leave but destruction in their wake.

Though they are an Assault-Oriented Legion, the Legion Culture and Ideology Jagus has instilled in his sons, has seen a number of veteran companies form within the vast Legion. It is because Jagus does not fooly throw his warriors into the guns of his foes, nor do his Commanders do such things, that the warriors of the Xth can get within lethal striking distance of their enemies without losing warriors to unnecessary tactics.

The Curse of the Beast

The Primarch made great effort to hide the flaw of his gene-seed and the affliction of his sons. The “Egestas a Bestia” or the “Curse of the Beast” has seen the noble sons of Jagus turn into the beasts that stalk Kuangaza. The DNA embedded into their superhuman bodies has caused the sons of the Jaguar to grow uncontrollably aggressive and savage, losing all sense of self and killing all to sate the bestial fury within. The Egestas a Bestia effects Legionaries at random, some of the oldest and most experienced fall to the curse as well as the newest troops indoctrinated into the Legion. For when the Xth are in battle they are not only battling the enemy, but the beast within. Jagus has worked tirelessly in the laboratories on his home planet to rid his sons of the Egestas a Bestia to no avail. But what Jagus and his Apothecaries have surmised is, the Catalepsean Node within his warriors has deteriorated beyond repair. During heightened times of stress, particularly in battle, the node switches on causing the Legionnaires to hallucinate or devolve into a state of psychosis. Ultimately, Jagus understands the purpose he and his sons were created for. The precision tool that will brutally cut the heart out of any and all that oppose the will of the Emperor.

Narrative before the Emperor

Origins:

The Xth infant Primarch crash landed on the planet of Kuangaza, an empire embroiled in an epic civil war. General Kubu, former leader of Warrior-King Ghojeki's military forces had grown distasteful of his rulers corruption and greed for power and in turn, him and his loyal followers fled into the deep jungle to seek refuge and fight against Ghojeki. The Primarch would later be found by Kubu's forces, and ultimately would lead them to victory over Ghojeki and end his bloody reign.

Early Life:

Before he was known by the name of Jagus, the young dark-skinned Primarch had grown up relatively alone in the lush Gazan Jungles. For about 5 years he was living and learning from the environment around him, fending off the giant Arachnids, Scorpions and Predators that roamed freely. It was the giant Jaguars that roamed the jungles he would learn the most from. Always waiting, always watching, the beasts struck its victims quickly and brutally, something the Primarch would later adopt to his great benefit. Jagus followed one such Jaguar, a giant in its own right; shining golden spotted fur and eyes like pools of shining emerald. Massive clawed paws, and jaws as wide as the Primarchs torso. As Jagus continued on, he realized the Jaguar had come upon a group of unsuspecting humans. Though they were heavily armed they only numbered 4 men, Jagus knew all too well that if the beast were to reach them, none would survive.

So the Primarch stalked the very animal he had learned so much from, watching and waiting. As the beast made to strike its unsuspecting victims, Jagus surprised it before it could commit to its attack; tackling its immense bulk to the ground. Jagus fought the predator with his bare hands, punching and kicking defensively in order to keep it at bay. The beast began to circle Jagus, sizing him up before it pounced on the Primarch. It was almost too fast for Jagus, he barely snagged the beast, holding its jaws mere inches from his neck. The beast ravaged the Primarch with its claws, blood fountaining from his super-human body. Jagus kicked the Jaguar from his body, regaining his footing, keeping a firm grip on the beasts jaws. With a massive feat of strength, Jagus snapped the lower mandible of the beast off and cast it away. The Jaguar made to flee, but by then Jagus was in a bestial fury. Even with its lower jaw missing, the Jaguar was still a formidable foe, slashing with its massive clawed paws. Jagus ducked under a swipe to deliver a savage kick to the beasts ribs. With a harsh crack its bones snapped and the beast reeled in agony but Jagus gave it no quarter, smashing the Jaguar over the head double handed until the skull shattered under the force. Jagus kicked the beast on its side and tore its heart out in a gory display of superiority.

The Separatist patrol had watched the Primarch slay the great Jaguar. Once the beast was dead, the warriors approached him cautiously. He was taken aback by the proximity of the men, lacking the social interaction that he had not known since he had grown up in the jungles. He collapsed from his injuries and the warriors took the Primarch in. The warriors he had saved hailed him as Jagus Kumkani or the Jaguar King. The then young Primarch was taken to the famed General Kubu, and he took the boy under his wing, teaching him all that he knew. A war culture heavily influenced by discipline, nobility, patience and brutal ambush warfare. The Primarch started out as a Brother-Warrior, working his way up over the years, perfecting his craft, becoming one with his weapons of war and himself. One staple of the Separatists way of war was calm and patience, and application of force. For the Seperatists did not commit to war without proper control or knowledge of ones enemies. Like all of his brother Primarchs, Jagus grew in body and intellect at an exponential rate, besting his male counterparts in all known knowledge, feats of strength and the art of war. He realized he was very different to the humans that adopted him. Soon there were none in the Separatist Forces that could best the larger than life Primarch. By this time, Jagus was 12, he would become the War Leader (Colonel equivalent) of a Kuangazan Recon Detachment. Outfitted with the best wargear, Light-Armor Plate, Konda Blades and kinetic weapons to offer. They were nicknamed the Jaguar Warriors. They mirrored the beasts of their homeworld in their way of temperment, aggression and in some cases appearance. Some of Jagus' 2000 Warriors had sharpened their teeth into fangs to strike fear in the hearts of their enemies.

When the right time came, Kubu shared with Jagus his plan to bring the Warrior-King Ghojeki down. He was told by his mentor that Jagus and his men would be the secret weapon to the battle plan, and it was crucial that they slip in undetected and open the routes so the bulk of the 20,000 strong army could gain access to the Palace. Kubu made his forces ready to fight, they marched to the palace of the Warrior-King in the seat of the capital Izula Prime. Jagus and his forces reconnoitered the palace of Ghojeki; watching and waiting for the best moment to strike. Gaining intelligence on enemy disposition, numbers, equipment and potential weaknesses. The palace was heavily defended; the sheer height and composition of the fortress proved to be a challenge, but the complement of warriors that were stationed there were of more concern. Jagus was an expert at finding the weakness of his enemy exercised his knack for calculated warfare.

4 days previous, Jagus' men intercepted radio traffic of a resupply convoy coming to the palace on the night of the attack. Jagus and his men jumped the convoy before it reached the Palace, donning the garb of Ghojeki's men they slipped in undetected. Once inside, the most brutal forces at Jagus disposal, lead by his most trusted friend and warrior Jabu Kosan; dispatched the main gate forces and opened the main point of ingress for the rest of the Separatists. His most swift warriors made their way to the enemy communications and command positions. The attack was so swift and fierce, a quarter of Ghojeki's forces had been slain before the element of surprise was lost. General Kubu stormed the inner palace in short order, finding Ghojeki in his throne room. Immediately the Warrior-King's personal guard engaged Kubu's warband, leaving the two warlords to fight by themselves. Ghojeki knew all was lost but fought all the more vicious, he was a massive warrior even to Kubu. A musculature that betrayed his age and a speed that would see his most experience warriors slain. General Kubu would not be victorious this day, for Ghojeki parted the General's head from his body. It was then Jagus made it to the throne room himself and saw his mentors headless corpse laying at the feet of the Warrior-King. Ghojeki simply smiled at the Primarch. But the Primarch was patient and wanted to see how this Warrior-King fought. Jagus let the man come at him, slashing and hacking with his dual Umozo blades. The Primarch dodged every blow Ghojeki threw, tiring the man out while Jagus’ heart rate hadn’t even increased. Like the Jaguars he had learned his craft of war from, faster than any could see, the Primarch struck so quickly and brutally that Ghojeki fell into 7 separate pieces on the white marble floor. Jagus taking his head as a trophy, a symbol of his brutal way of war. To this day, he wears the Warrior-King Ghojeki's skull on his belt.

After the defeat of Ghojeki, the Primarch was crowned the King of Kuangaza at the age of 15 and united all of its peoples; taking the mantle of leadership in the place of Ghojeki and his empire. Jagus believed that everyone should be free and spread the wealth of the empire to all of its populace, teaching all the ways of Science, Art, Philosophy, War, and Diplomacy. The realm saw a short period of peace and unity for the first time in 2 centuries, far long before Jagus had come. The Primarch made it his life to always serve his people and fight for what he knew was right, even if others didn't agree. The coming of the Emperor saw Jagus take his place alongside his Father, for then Jagus believed that he would be doing just and righteous work in the name of humanity.

Coming of the Emperor:

By this time Jagus had been the rightful ruler of Kuangaza for 30 years before the coming of the Emperor. Even though Jagus had taken the place of Ghojeki, realms within the Kuangazan Empire had rebelled against the Primarch and his rule. Governors of over a dozen realms had joined together to dethrone the Primarch and retain the power and prestige they gained from Ghojeki. Jagus and his Warriors had been busy quelling the rebellion in the city of Hela a minor city state in the realm. Fighting desperately against the Heavy Infantry dug in around the city. The warriors of Hela had extensive kinetic weapons at their disposal that had seen Jagus and his forces taking heavy losses on their assaults.

It was on the North edge of the city that Jagus assaulted the weakened edge of the enemy lines, crushing the remaining enemy forces underfoot. As Jagus and his warriors moved deeper into the city, they met lighter resistance as they came upon the city center. Jagus had realized too late that he had made a fatal error. In his hubris, the Primarch had lead his forces into the city and allowed himself to be surrounded by the Helans and the mirid other forces from around the planet. As the Jaguars made to take the city center, the Helans attacked with 6 regiments of heavy infantry, as well as supporting artillery batteries. With a bestial roar, the Primarch committed his forces to the fight, taking a heavy toll on the enemy and his forces as well.

Even for the trans-human Primarch, it was not enough. As Jagus and his Jaguar Warriors made for their final stand, the sky was pierced by blinding golden light. That was when the sky rained fire and the gold and white armoured warriors lead by a being so magnificent, Jagus knew that he must have come to his salvation. The golden being was not alone, for walking alongside him, was a being resplendent in white armor; gilded in silver, smiting foes without even looking at them. The Emperor and the white armored Primarch fought with the noble Jagus, desecrating their gleaming armored forms. With the influx of the white armored warriors and the Emperor himself, the Helans were crushed by the might of the warriors that would later become known as the Paladins Radiant.

After the battle, Jagus and his warriors approached the Emperor with genuine thanks in their hearts, bending knee and swearing fealty to the Emperor; his true Father. Still the white armored warrior hadn't spoken to Jagus. The Emperor told Jagus of his true purpose and his place in the Galactic Conquest, and then introduced Jagus to the white armored warrior, his brother Amarthanar. Immediately the two Primarchs connected, Jagus gripping Amarthanar's forearm in salute; thanking his brother for his intervention. He applauded Amarthanar and his warriors for their bearing and discipline. Amarthanar saw just how noble his brother was, he saw the warrior spirit and nobility in his brother. Jagus and his warriors set out with the Emperor and his brother Amarthanar to take his rightful place in the Galactic Conquest.

Personality/Physical Description/Combat Style:

Jagus Kumkani is described as being a physically imposing, ebon-skinned Primarch with high top dreadlocks. Possessing the diverse phenotypes of Afrik, he further has bright green eyes, a long slender nose and high broad cheekbones with a linear jaw, and the most striking feature of all, his feline-like teeth. He is half a head taller than most of his brothers, standing an imposing 11’ feet tall, and broad at the shoulders much of the likes of the animal he venerates. He wears ornately decorated golden armor, engraved with the images and icons of his most significant victories; as well as the trappings of the Jaguar he killed in his youth. He sports the beasts pelt across his shoulders and has fashioned the teeth into an ornately made Konda Blade. He possess a noticeable accent from his native tongue of Kuangaza, similar to the native languages of Afrik.

The Primarch of the Xth Legion can be described as calm, reserved and calculating. But on the same note he is honorable and perceptibly savage and brutal. He understands his purpose as merely a tool of the Emperor, and has deliberately avoided the gratification some of his siblings have sought from their Father, for he found no need for it. His purpose at its basic form is to protect and fight for humanity, and the Master of the Xth will do so without complaint. The Primarch is an expert at finding the weaknesses of his enemies, and all he meets; even his siblings. He is always watching and listening to everything that goes on, for nothing is a secret to the Jaguar King. Jagus is somewhat of a paradox, he is the savage wrath of the Emperor and later the Council; a beacon of light and honor on the same token.

When not at war, Jagus enjoys the finer things in his life. The study and practice of Science, Art, History and Philosophy for he has a bottomless intelligence. His flagship is lavishly decorated with art from his homeworld as well as art him and his sons have created themselves. Jagus enjoys the company of his warriors and holds great feasts when time permits, for Jagus believes a warrior should enjoy what life they do have when not waging war. But when they do wage war, there is nothing that can stop the momentum of Jagus and his sons.

Though Jagus would never admit it, those closest to the Jaguar King know that the War of Light has made the Primarch increasingly aggressive and volatile. Some wonder if the Jaguar King will fall victim the beast he fights within. If he will fall victim to his flesh, like his sons have. He goes to great lengths to connect to his brothers and his warriors, and is fiercely loyal to the cause of the Council of Light and his brother Primarchs that stand alongside him.

Legion Structure and Ranks

The coming of the Primarch saw many things change. This included the overall structure of the Legion to better accommodate the numbers within the Legion, to easily deploy and identify the number of warriors under the command of the Primarch. Though the Legion units changed in name, it largely stayed in the edicts put in per Adeptus Astartes Doctrine. In turn the Primarch incorporated large sub formations within the Legion he designated Clans. These formations were structured in the specialization of Legionnaires. Assault, Light and Heavy Armored Clan to name a few. This allowed the Primarch to commit large amounts of his Legion to specific battlefield roles without the complication of numerous companies to deal with.

As doctrine dictates a Squad is 20 warriors under the leadership of a War-Leader . Typical Pride (Company) structure is 200 Legionnaires, being that the Legion is assault oriented, which require extensive numbers. These units are lead by a Pride Commander. Anywhere from 1,000-10,000 Legionnaires can make up a single Clan (Chapter), again depending on their battlefield role. The most venerated and battle-hardened officers of the Legion lead these formations, they carry the title of War-Chief. Often times the largest Clans are the Assault Formations, the biggest being the 2nd Assault Clan, the "Savage Claws" which numbers roughly 10,000 Legionnaires and the 50th Heavy Armored Clan the "Hammers of Jagus", numbering 9,500 Legionnaires and its supporting Armored Elements.

Honors and Ranks of the Xth Legion:

Ranks and Honors within the Xth Legion have been influenced by the culture of Kuangaza and ultimately the Legionnaires from that world. Honors and rank are bestowed upon warriors that prove themselves in the crucible of battle as well as their studies of the arts when not at war. Though the latter is of non-formal nature and warriors of the Xth take most pride in their battle honors than their scholarly ranks.

Honors/Badges:

Claw of the Jaguar- Given to warriors who have saved the life of the Primarch, it is a giant claw of the beast the Primarch killed in his youth. Few within the entire Legion posses these claws. They are attached to a golden chain and worn around the neck of the warrior. It speaks volumes of the prowess of the warrior who protected the Jaguar King, for he doesn't become complacent and rarely is out of his element in war. But even the great Jaguar has his limits and relies on his warriors to watch his back he does theirs.

Badge of the Sword Master- A silver embellished Konda Blade worn on the crest plate of an awardees left pauldron, it is given to the most skilled and venerated swordsman and melee fighters of the Legion, this badge is only awarded to those who show their prowess with the famed Konda Blade, slaying an enemy officer or warlord in single combat.

Crest of Honor- Similar to the Imperial Laurels, the crest is made of silver and worn on the helm. This is given to the bravest and most stalwart warriors of the Xth Legion. Awarded for protecting ones brother warriors is their duty, but to show great valor in battle, the awardee has to prove his mettle in the crucible of war by an exceptional valorous act.

Excerpt: Crest of Honor -- Brother-Warrior Vala Lethu: [3rd Squad, 11th Pride, 2nd Assault Clan]

"Brother-Warrior Lethu showed exceptional valor and honor against the Ork Forces on Darrin II. Against overwhelming odds, the Brother Warrior single handedly held off a 20 strong flanking attack from the Orks moving to overwhelm his squads position on the outskirts of the city center. For his valor and disregard for himself, he has been awarded the Crest of Honor. --818.M30"
